Nick's First Post (Why I'm Here)

Updated: Mar 23

I don't occupy the internet much, if at all - this is worth it though.

Today marks the day that I begin my more well-rounded journey in life - both professionally and personally. Here's where the professional journey will be housed, more specifically the journey to find the balance between emotion (or passion, in most cases) and logic in this aggressively capitalistic world. This not not a manifesto, it's an outlet.

I have subscriptions to Canva and Wix with my own domain - this journey will be visible to the whole world. The whole world won't see it, I know that. It's out there regardless and I'll be making a bigger name for myself with each step. Do I know what that Wilkas Brand Name will look like 5, 10, 40 years down the road? Fuck no. But I'm sure as hell going to fight to make sure the fam are proud of the man I become. So, I'm subscribing to a misquote from one of the most-successful (not to be confused with ethical) businessmen of our lifetime: "It's easier to invent the future than to predict it." - Jeff Bezos (1994, when he was just beginning to pursue a wild passion/idea in his garage at 30 years old)

Vulnerability is funny that way - you can do your best to sit in your own 'bubble' and buy into the belief that no other opinion matters, but ultimately human error pushes us towards social comparison. That's not saying that a bubble isn't a good thing sometimes or arguably beneficial at all times; more so drawing attention to the fact (for myself, more than anyone else) that you sometimes need to look around, smell the fucking roses WITH the manure. Life isn't black & white.

I don't have anything to prove to anyone but myself. No aspiring or established creative (passion-seeker) should ever feel obligations to anyone, at least in my opinion as the former. However, that doesn't mean anyone should become complacent with their professional and personal growth.

Hence why I'm here - to pursue a holistically beneficial passion while being vulnerable enough to show the world an [often heavily] edited version of my journey to finding that sweet, sweet thing we call balance ... also often referred to as 'Zen' or 'Happiness'.

I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I will. It's going to be a bumpy one but hey - yin and yang, baby.

Peace,

Nick
